A familiar drive for Arden-Arcade families

Arden-Arcade is one of the largest unincorporated communities in Sacramento County, with a population of nearly ninety-three thousand spread across neighborhoods between American River and El Camino Avenue, including Arden Park, Sierra Oaks, Wilhaggin, and the Watt Avenue corridor. From the heart of Arden-Arcade near Arden Fair, our office is a nine-mile drive east, fifteen to twenty minutes depending on time of day.

Most Arden-Arcade families take Fair Oaks Boulevard east, then Sunrise Boulevard south. Families closer to the American River bluffs sometimes prefer Madison Avenue east. Either route lands at Gold Express Drive in twelve to twenty minutes.

Why the drive

Specialty pediatric care that justifies the trip

Arden-Arcade has plenty of dental options closer than nine miles. The reason families come to us is the same as families from Folsom or Citrus Heights: specialty pediatric services. The specific draws are IV sedation, special-needs dentistry, and infant frenectomy.

For IV sedation, the alternative is a hospital operating room. Families who learn that in-office IV sedation with a board-certified dental anesthesiologist is an option will often switch from a hospital case to our office because it is faster, less expensive, and a calmer experience for the child. After sedation cases, many Arden-Arcade families stay with us for general care.

For special needs, our office is set up for sensory accommodations, behavioral approaches, and IV sedation when conscious treatment is not feasible. We have a steady patient base of Arden-Arcade special-needs families.

For infant frenectomy, we work with lactation consultants in the area on referrals for tongue-tie and lip-tie release using a soft-tissue laser, which is gentler and faster-healing than scissors.

San Juan Unified

The school year for Arden-Arcade families

San Juan Unified School District serves most of Arden-Arcade. The schools that send us the most patients include Cottage Elementary, Del Dayo Elementary, Schweitzer Elementary, La Sierra Community School, and the area's middle and high schools. Like the rest of the SJUSD service area, we plan around state testing weeks and concentrate routine cleanings in the August back-to-school period.

For families coordinating with orthodontic providers in the Arden-Arcade area, we work alongside the major area orthodontists on dental clearance, extractions, and ongoing care during orthodontic treatment. Communication between offices keeps the timeline tight.
